Are you in need of some inspiration these school holidays?

If you are in need of some inspiration these school holidays, then look no further.

With trips running daily throughout the July school holidays, there has never been a better time to get the family together for a trip with Rotoiti Water Shuttles to the Lake Rotoiti Hot Pools.

Located just a 20 minute drive from Rotorua, or 45 minutes from Tauranga. Come and join us for a trip to remember these school holidays.

The boat shuttle to the hot pools will be sure to delight even the most hesitant of little ones. There is plenty to see, and the birdlife on Lake Rotoiti is second to none. The lake is home to majestic black swans and a plethora of ducks and shags.

With the help of your skipper, you might be lucky enough to spot a rare dabchick or weweia. These small grebes are small enough to sit in your palm. Endemic to New Zealand, there are estimated to be under two thousand dabchick remaining. With a large number of the population living on Lake Rotoiti, there are few places that you will be more likely to see one of these intriguing little aquatic birds.

Once you have arrived at the Lake Rotoiti Hot Pools, sit back, relax and soak up the views. The pools all vary in temperature, and you’ll have no trouble in finding a favourite. The kids are always well entertained, and can usually be found relentlessly skipping between the pools and the lake. The slide at the end of the jetty is notorious for providing endless delight for adults and children alike, with even the most dubious finding themselves sliding down it after a bit of persuasion.

Pack a picnic, and after you finish your soak, sit back and enjoy the beautiful lakeside views in the picnic area. With cold drinks and hot chips available at the onsite cafe, you’ll be sure to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. If you are feeling up for it, there is even a short walk up to a viewpoint behind the pools, which will reward you with an amazing view over Lake Rotoiti.

Hop back on board your vessel, and your skipper will return you safe and sound to your car. If you are looking for a refreshing beverage, or perhaps something more substantial to eat – The Okere Falls Store is an excellent place to stop in before you head home.

We are currently running a winter special for $65 per adult and $35 per child. You will need to allow 2.5 hours from departure, and can expect to spend at least 1.5 hrs at the pools. The price includes return boat shuttle fares, and admission to the hot pools.

If you are looking to make a day of it, then consider a rafting trip on the famous Kaituna River before your soak. The Kaituna river drains from Lake Rotoiti, and is a thrill seekers paradise. There is also a stunning walkway down the river, which boasts viewing platforms of all the waterfalls. If a rafting trip isn’t on the agenda, then watching others plummet of the worlds highest commercially rafted waterfall is always sure to delight.

There is something for everyone in our stunning little town of Okere Falls, and we can’t wait to have you out on the lake with us soon!
