Experience the magic of Lake Rotoiti with our 3-hour exclusive charter — a private cruise aboard either the luxurious “Airstream” (up to 18 guests) or the spacious “Rotoiti Explorer” (up to 45 guests).

Cruise in comfort with your own vessel and friendly local skipper, who will guide you to some of our favourite hidden spots on the lake. Step ashore at a secluded hot water beach and wander through a warm geothermal stream surrounded by native wetlands — while curious pīwakawaka flit overhead.

A highlight of the journey is a visit to the Lake Rotoiti Hot Pools, where you’ll have ample time (around an hour and a half) to soak in the natural mineral waters, take in the stunning views, and enjoy a drink from the on-site café and bar.

How is this experience different to the ‘Hot Pools Water Shuttle’?

The ‘Lake Rotoiti Water Shuttle’ service is a return boat ride including admission to the Lake Rotoiti Hot Pools. The duration of the trip is 2.5 hours.

This exclusive charter experience is a fully guided 3-hour trip that includes an extended scenic cruise and the opportunity to disembark and explore a secluded geothermal hot water beach and stream.

Where does the trip depart from?

This trip departs from the VR Rotorua Lake Resort. If you require a different pick up location, please get in touch on our contact page

How many people can you take?

As group sizes increase, we use larger vessels capable of hosting up to 45 people at a time. 

Can I bring alcohol?

No — alcohol cannot be brought on board. There is a licensed bar at the hot pools, and some of our vessels also have a licensed bar on board.

How do I book?

What if I want to go at a different time?

If we have availability, we’ll do our best to make this option work for you. It depends on your group size and whether our vessels and skippers are free at your preferred time.

Can I bring food?  

Yes, you’re welcome to bring food — however, it cannot be consumed during the boat ride. You’re welcome to enjoy it in the BBQ area at the hot pools.
